First Snow
Acrylic on linen covered wood
28" x 28"
The viewer is looking across Magnolia Ave. in the small mountain town of Buena Vista towards the railroad tracks a little past a block away. Beyond that is the levee between the town and the Maury River which is prone to flooding. The rise beyond that is parkland and rife with deer year around. The first snow is usually a wet one and seems to get plowed late. In the damp and sullen mid-morning hushed air it froms its own light fog.
